I hate blood and gore but I love crime novels. My absolute favourites are Kate Atkinson’s Jackson Brodie books. They’re stunningly written, pacy stories, with a flawed, cynical ex-cop as the hero. Atkinson has written five Jackson Brodie books so far (they’ve also been dramatised by the BBC) and I’m keeping my fingers crossed that there will be another …
